Bahrain Hotel Sector Recovery Fueled by Influx of Gulf Visitors

The Bahrain hotel sector recovery has gained significant momentum thanks to an influx of Gulf visitors, particularly from Saudi Arabia. During the Eid Al Fitr holiday, the Kingdom of Bahrain saw a sharp rise in tourism. This surge in visitors resulted in hotel occupancy rates reaching over 90%. In some areas, hotels experienced occupancy levels as high as 95%.

A key driver of this influx was the King Fahd Causeway, which links Saudi Arabia to Bahrain. More than 100,000 people crossed the causeway daily during the Eid holiday, a trend that strongly supported Bahrain’s hospitality industry. The causeway is vital for travelers, making it easier for Saudi tourists to visit Bahrain.

Saudi visitors accounted for around 60% of the total tourists to Bahrain during this period. Their presence has played a pivotal role in the Bahrain hotel sector recovery. Data reveals that Saudi tourists tend to spend significantly more than those from other countries. On average, they spend three to four times more, boosting the local economy.

Eid Al Fitr, which began on March 30 this year, is traditionally a peak season for Bahrain’s tourism. The festive period marks a time when many Saudi families and young people flock to Bahrain for its open and diverse entertainment offerings. This makes Bahrain a top choice for Gulf visitors during the holiday season.

The growth of Bahrain’s tourism sector can be attributed to several factors. The King Fahd Causeway’s convenient link between the two countries, along with Bahrain’s attractions, has contributed greatly. The holiday season has thus marked a significant step in the Bahrain hotel sector recovery.

Looking ahead, analysts predict that the hotel sector will continue to benefit from the ongoing influx of Gulf visitors. The Bahrain hotel sector recovery is expected to sustain growth, especially during major holiday seasons like Eid.
