Bahrain Champions Women’s Influence and Leadership at Global Development Summit in Doha

Bahrain continues to stand out as a regional leader in gender equality and empowerment. During the Second World Summit for Social Development in Doha, Bahrain participated in a side event titled “Women at the Heart of Development: From Empowerment to Influence.” The meeting, organized by Oman’s Ministry of Social Development in cooperation with Kuwait and the GCC Secretariat, celebrated women shaping the future across the Gulf.

Bahrain’s Minister of Social Development spoke about the growing impact of Gulf women. He stressed that the region has moved from empowerment to real influence. Moreover, he praised Gulf women for proving their strength in leadership, creativity, and innovation. Their achievements continue to inspire communities and reshape national progress.

He noted that Bahrain views women’s participation as a top national goal. Therefore, the country works to integrate women into every stage of development. This effort has created new opportunities for growth, equality, and influence in all sectors.

The Minister highlighted the Supreme Council for Women’s pioneering role. The Council has launched many creative projects that promote female leadership locally and globally. Through these efforts, Bahrain strengthens its position as a model for women shaping the future.

He also encouraged GCC members to join the upcoming event organized by the Supreme Council for Women in partnership with UN Women. That event will present the third edition of the Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa Global Award for Women’s Empowerment. He affirmed Bahrain’s goal to expand these initiatives for greater global benefit.

Luluah Saleh Al-Awadhi, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Women, applauded Gulf women’s progress. She explained that the Council’s National Plan for the Advancement of Bahraini Women (2025–2026) focuses on maintaining excellence. It also supports work-life balance and promotes women’s leadership in promising sectors.

Overall, the gathering featured lively discussions, experience sharing, and strategic planning. Participants exchanged ideas, reviewed successful examples, and discussed how to strengthen education, employment, and leadership for women shaping the future.
