Baghdad’s New Role in Arab Unity Shines Bright

Baghdad’s new role in Arab unity shined brightly during a major summit that brought together key Arab leaders and global figures. This gathering marked a turning point for regional collaboration and demonstrated Iraq’s rising influence in the Middle East.

Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein described the summit as highly effective and filled with meaningful discussions. He stressed that Baghdad worked diligently to host a productive and impactful event that enhanced Arab unity. The city welcomed Arab leaders with deep respect and honor. This warm welcome reflected Iraq’s historical pride and its aim to lead constructive dialogue across the region.

Baghdad’s new role in Arab unity was evident in the strong participation of officials and leaders. Their presence showed a shared desire to strengthen the Arab position. Delegates agreed that unity would boost development and support peace across the Arab world. Baghdad also gained recognition as a vital regional player.

The event hosted over 300 local journalists and more than 200 international media representatives. Organizers issued 1,000 entry permits for attendees. Twenty Arab organizations took part, alongside global institutions, including the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. Spain’s Prime Minister joined as a guest of honor. These details highlighted Iraq’s growing diplomatic reach and Baghdad’s evolving role in Arab unity.

Sixteen key preparatory meetings were held in Baghdad before the summit. Iraq proudly hosted three major conferences: the Arab League Council, the fifth Development Summit, and a trilateral summit with Egypt and Jordan. Additionally, Iraq now leads the G77-China group, cementing its status as both a regional and global influencer and emphasizing Baghdad’s new role in fostering Arab unity.

The summit will issue the “Baghdad Declaration.” This includes immediate calls to end the crisis in Gaza and outlines steps toward development and stability. Attendees also discussed bold initiatives that will elevate Baghdad’s role in maintaining Arab unity. These included establishing an Arab center to fight terrorism, organized crime, drug trafficking, and to support reconstruction.

Baghdad’s new role in Arab unity stood out in discussions on Syria. Arab nations supported lifting sanctions on Syrians. This step aligns with recent decisions taken in Riyadh and now reinforced in Baghdad. The process marks a new phase in Arab cooperation.

On another front, Hussein welcomed the Kurdistan Workers’ Party’s decision to disarm. He confirmed that Iraq and Turkey will work together to implement this important move. Baghdad’s strategic involvement in regional issues aims to enhance peace prospects and bolster unity amongst Arab nations.

Hussein concluded that Baghdad’s summit brought realism, unity, and bold decisions. It showed the Arab world’s readiness to face challenges through joint efforts, demonstrating Baghdad’s ascending role in Arab unity that continues to grow stronger and more influential.
