The Azm Center for Psychological and Social Empowerment was officially launched in Riyadh on Tuesday by Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif, Minister of Interior. The center operates under the City Medical Operation Program of the General Directorate of Medical Services. It works in collaboration with the Quality of Life Program, which is a significant component of Saudi Vision 2030.
During the opening, Prince Abdulaziz was briefed by Dr. Saleh Al-Mohsen, the General Supervisor of the General Directorate of Medical Services and the Security Forces Hospital Program. Dr. Saleh detailed the comprehensive services the center provides. These services include mental health assessments, psychotherapy, family medicine, psychological rehabilitation, social support, therapeutic nutrition, and occupational therapy. There is a special focus on art and music therapy. Additionally, dental care, pharmaceutical consultations, and lab diagnostics are available at the center.
The minister also learned about the center’s framework. It integrates leading international practices in mental health care through a collaboration with McLean Hospital. McLean is a part of Mass General Brigham and Harvard Medical School, internationally known for its expertise in psychiatric services and rehabilitation.
Furthermore, a presentation covered the integration of artificial intelligence in the center’s medical services. It also reviewed its achievements in 2024 while outlining its ambitious goals for 2025.
The Azm Center is a key initiative in Saudi Arabia’s broader efforts to improve mental health services. It contributes to the overall enhancement of healthcare and quality of life in the Kingdom.
