Amir Attends Closing Ceremony of HH the Amir Sword Festival 2025

DOHA: His Highness the Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, attended the grand closing ceremony of the HH the Amir Sword Festival 2025 at Al Uqdah Equestrian Complex. The prestigious event was graced by several dignitaries. These included HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Thani, HE Sheikh Jassim bin Khalifa Al Thani, Shura Council Speaker HE Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim. Ministers, sheikhs, horse owners, and equestrian sports enthusiasts also attended.

During the ceremony, HH the Amir awarded the Golden Sword to HE Sheikh Hamad bin Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani. He represented Al Shaqab Racing. The horse Al Ghadeer claimed victory in the eighth 2400m round for Arabian Purebreds (Grade 1, Category 1). This marked the third leg of the prestigious Triple Crown.

The Amir’s Award for Arabian Thoroughbreds was presented to Ali Al Ali, representing Godolphin. This followed the triumph of Rebel’s Romance in the seventh 2400m round for Arabian Thoroughbreds (Grade 1, Category 1).

The Silver Sword was awarded to Nasser Abdullah Al Misnad for Bianca De Ghazal’s win in the sixth 2100m round for four-year-old Arabian Purebreds (Grade 1). Meanwhile, the Shalfa trophy was presented to Mohammed Hamad Al Attiyah. He represented Al-Jeryan Stud. This was after Aafoor emerged victorious in the fifth 2100m round for Purebreds (Grade 2).

HH the Amir also honored the top four finishers of the Al Sabiq heritage race. They were Mohammed Kumaan Al Hajri, Nasser Mohammed Al Shahwani, Omar Ahmed Al Khayarin, and Mohammed Saad Al Hajri.

In the show jumping category of the HH the Amir Sword competition, Germany’s Janne Friederike Meyer took the top prize. She was followed by Saudi Arabia’s Khalid Al Mubti and France’s Antoine Ermann. The Amir also presented awards in the dressage category to winners Jassim Mohammed Al Kuwari, Jessica Megan, and Asma Yasser.

The HH the Amir Sword Festival remains one of the most significant equestrian events in the region. It celebrates Qatar’s deep-rooted passion for horse racing and equestrian sports.
