Alfardan Group Wins Qatar CSR Award for Turning Tires into Basketball Courts

Alfardan Group’s sustainability strategy has been highlighted by receiving the Qatar CSR Award 2025 for its standout project, “From Tires to Courts,” which transformed used tires into basketball courts. This recognition underscores the group’s leadership in environmental innovation and community engagement.

The award ceremony took place at The Ritz-Carlton’s Al Wosail Ballroom. Alfardan Group, in partnership with Continental Middle East, developed Qatar’s first basketball courts made entirely from recycled tire materials. The effort is part of Alfardan Group’s sustainability strategy, known as Athar

The project used around 500 discarded tires to build a 175-square-meter sports surface using eco-friendly “Green Rub” tiles. The recycled courts now serve as community hubs promoting health, inclusion, and unity through sport.

He added that the group aims to keep moving forward by integrating sustainable ideas into all its projects. The recycled courts at AlGassar Resorts are just one example of how creative thinking and collaboration can support Qatar’s sustainability goals.
