Al Aarab Triumphs at Al Bashayer Festival

The Al Bashayer Camel Race Festival, held annually in Adam, Oman, brought fierce competition this year. Oman’s Mohammed al Jahafi claimed victory in the gun race with his camel, Al Aarab. This win marks an important achievement for Oman’s camel racing community. In addition, competitors from Qatar and the UAE also won major prizes.

Al Aarab triumphs at this year’s festival, which runs from February 10 to 15. The competition attracts participants from across the GCC, with over 5,320 camels taking part. Al Jahafi’s victory in the prestigious gun race was one of the key moments of the event.

The festival kicked off with intense races. On February 12, Mohammed al Jahafi’s camel emerged as the winner in the gun category, securing a top spot. Later that day, the UAE’s Atiq al Qubasi and his camel Dawama won the coveted fourth car. These victories are just some of the many moments that made this year’s festival special.

The competition features various categories. Camels race in events based on their age and distance. The festival started with the ‘Hagayeg’ race, where two-year-old camels raced 4 kilometers. The following day, three-year-olds participated in the ‘Lagaya’ race, covering 5 kilometers. On the third day, four-year-olds competed in the ‘Yathaa’ category, racing 6 kilometers.

Prizes for top finishers include SUVs, guns, daggers, and cash rewards. This year’s festival has even larger rewards, making the competition more exciting than ever. With over 84 races taking place throughout the event, the stakes have never been higher.

Al Aarab triumphs in this year’s event shows Oman’s strong presence in camel racing. However, the festival also highlighted the successes of Qatar and the UAE, demonstrating the widespread appeal of the sport across the GCC.

The Al Bashayer Camel Race Festival will continue to be a highlight of the region’s sporting calendar. As the event progresses, fans and competitors alike eagerly await the remaining races and the final grand prizes.
