Dhofar Celebrates Quran Schools Competition

Dhofar celebrates Quran schools competition with a grand ceremony that honoured outstanding students and showcased religious learning achievements. The Directorate General of Endowments and Religious Affairs hosted the event at the Sultan Qaboos Youth Complex in Salalah. The ceremony concluded the 1446 AH edition of the “Harvest of Quran Schools” contests held across the governorate. Students, teachers, and parents gathered to reflect on a year of dedicated learning and spiritual growth. Therefore, Dhofar celebrates Quran schools competition as a key initiative in nurturing faith and academic discipline.

To begin with, a visual presentation opened the event, offering an overview of the Quran schools and their developmental stages throughout the academic year. Meanwhile, attendees watched students perform Quranic recitations and religious hymns, highlighting both skill and devotion. Organisers designed the competitions to strengthen recitation, memorisation, and understanding of the Prophet’s Sunnah. At the same time, the initiative aimed to instil strong Islamic values in young participants. In this spirit, Dhofar celebrates Quran schools competition not only as a contest but as a community celebration of faith.

Furthermore, Dr. Ahmed Mohsen Al Ghassani, Chairman of Dhofar Municipality, attended as guest of honour and presented awards to 200 high-performing students. These included winners from the seventh edition of the “Harvest of Quran Schools” competition and the third edition of “Nibras Al Huda.” The latter focused on Hadith memorisation and understanding, further broadening the religious education agenda. In addition, the honoured students represented Quran circles in mosques and schools across the governorate. Thus, Dhofar celebrates Quran schools competition with pride in the dedication of its youth.

Moreover, the event reinforced the broader goals of religious education in Oman’s southernmost governorate. Officials praised the role of Quran schools in guiding ethical behaviour and strengthening national identity. They also emphasised the importance of continued support for youth-based learning programmes rooted in Islamic principles. By recognising academic and spiritual excellence, the competitions serve as a model for other regions. Consequently, Dhofar celebrates Quran schools competition as a foundation for values-based education.

Looking ahead, organisers hope to expand participation and enhance programming in future editions. Plans include more advanced training for teachers and integration of digital tools in Quran study. In parallel, religious leaders also aim to build deeper engagement between families and educational institutions. With ongoing commitment from government and society, the initiative promises lasting impact. Ultimately, Dhofar celebrates Quran schools competition as part of its vision for a faith-driven, knowledge-rich future.
