Sustainable Energy in Kuwait: New Recommendations for a Greener Future

Kuwait concluded the “Kuwait Sustainable Energy Conference” along with its accompanying exhibition. It was held in collaboration with the Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency. The sessions ended with strong recommendations on sustainable energy and energy efficiency.

Eng. Ahmad Al-Dosari, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at the Center, stated that the conference hosted 15 panel sessions. These brought together experts, specialists, and decision-makers from Kuwait, the Gulf, North Africa, the Middle East, and Europe. The key phrase “sustainable energy transition” emerged as a focal point throughout the conference.

Speakers discussed the regional electricity grid’s role in accelerating the sustainable energy transition, emphasizing expanding efficiency solutions. The panels addressed climate challenges, economic pressures, and commitments to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Attendees praised Kuwait for hosting the event and its leadership in projects like the Shagaya Renewable Energy Complex. This effort reinforced its commitment to a sustainable energy transition.

The conference also featured the 13th edition of the Arab Energy Efficiency Day competition. This year’s award was shared by two projects. These were the Bisha Storage Project in Saudi Arabia and an industrial storage and solar optimization project in Jordan.

The fifth edition of the Energy and Climate Business Forum took place on the sidelines, organized by the Union for the Mediterranean. It aimed to strengthen ties between the Gulf and Mediterranean regions. Sessions highlighted how green entrepreneurship can drive sustainable growth. They also emphasized how joint climate resilience can unlock investment opportunities.

The event concluded by reaffirming the need for regional cooperation and private sector innovation. These are essential to power the next phase of the sustainable energy transition.
