University of Bahrain and Bahrain Polytechnic Receive “Compliant” Rating for Higher Education Standards

The University of Bahrain and Bahrain Polytechnic have both earned a “Compliant” rating for the General Framework for the Review of Higher Education Institutions. This rating, awarded by the Education and Training Quality Authority (BQA), follows a comprehensive review conducted with the Higher Education Council (HEC).

The Minister of Education and Chairman of the Higher Education Council expressed praise for both institutions. He also highlighted their success in meeting the BQA’s stringent standards. This recognition reflects their commitment to excellence in areas like governance, administration, and student support services.

The two institutions achieved the “Compliant” rating after meeting criteria outlined in the General Framework for the Review of Higher Education Institutions. These standards include management, research, teaching methods, and infrastructure. Furthermore, both institutions demonstrated a strong focus on continuous improvement and enhancing the student experience.

Dr. Fuad Mohammed Al-Ansari, President of the University of Bahrain, and Professor Kieran Okahon, CEO of Bahrain Polytechnic, received the accreditation certificate from Dr. Maryam Mustafa, CEO of the BQA. The ceremony also included officials from the Ministry of Education and the Higher Education Council.

Dr. Maryam Hassan Mustafa emphasized the achievement’s significance. She stated that it reflects the progress of Bahrain’s higher education sector. The success of both institutions in meeting the National Qualifications Framework standards highlights their role in aligning with Bahrain’s sustainable development goals. This achievement not only enhances the institutions’ reputation but also strengthens graduates’ readiness for the workforce.
