Tamkeen and Bahrain Polytechnic Expand Career-Focused Apprenticeship Programs in Bahrain

Tamkeen and Bahrain Polytechnic have introduced new career-focused apprenticeship programs to strengthen the skills of Bahraini nationals. These programs aim to align education with the labor market’s needs. They provide a pathway to employment through practical training in fields like information and communications technology (ICT), retail, and automotive body painting and maintenance.

These new tracks complement five existing programs: automotive technology, plumbing, welding, refrigeration and air conditioning, and electricity. Each program offers 100% training cost support. Participants also receive a 50% salary subsidy during the apprenticeship. This initiative supports Bahrain’s strategy to enhance its workforce and ensure sustainable economic growth.

This collaboration is a key element of Tamkeen’s 2025 strategy. The strategy focuses on preparing Bahrainis for the evolving job market. The career-focused apprenticeship programs bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world experience. Students benefit from on-the-job training and gain relevant skills. These skills help them become more competitive in their careers.

Participants also receive a monthly stipend and job benefits during the program. Upon completion, graduates will earn a diploma recognized both locally and internationally. These qualifications open multiple career opportunities, such as continued employment, further academic studies, or entrepreneurial ventures.

Since its launch in December 2023, more than 45 companies have partnered with Bahrain Polytechnic. Additionally, 266 trainees have joined the program, gaining valuable skills and work experience. The apprenticeship initiative is expected to generate over 430 job opportunities, helping Bahrainis secure long-term, stable careers in various industries.

Overall, by offering career-focused apprenticeship programs, Tamkeen and Bahrain Polytechnic are equipping Bahrainis with the skills to succeed in a changing job market. These programs provide valuable hands-on experience and career development. They ensure participants are well-prepared for professional challenges. The collaboration helps Bahrain’s workforce meet the demands of the economy and contribute to the nation’s growth and competitiveness.
