Bapco Energy Celebrates Green Innovation in Bahraini Schools

Bapco Energy Group recently hosted the 17th Annual Green Schools Award ceremony in collaboration with the Supreme Council for the Environment and the Ministry of Education. The event recognized outstanding environmental projects from secondary schools across Bahrain for the 2024/2025 academic year.

The Minister of Oil and Environment, who also serves as the Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, praised Bapco Energy for its commitment to sustainability. He noted that green innovation in Bahraini schools helps raise environmental awareness among students. Furthermore, he emphasized the value of youth participation in eco-focused initiatives that align with Bahrain’s environmental goals.

The Minister of Education also commended the ongoing collaboration with Bapco Energy and the Supreme Council for the Environment. He reaffirmed the ministry’s support for green education and encouraged students to take part in sustainable projects. He pointed out that such programs promote innovation and benefit the broader community.

Importantly, green innovation in Bahraini schools leads to practical solutions such as recycling, energy-saving efforts, and tree planting. These activities contribute directly to environmental protection while building a culture of responsibility. The award program motivates students to create sustainable solutions through education and creativity.

This year, 23 secondary schools participated in the competition. Al Noor Secondary School for Girls earned first place with its project on creating vegetable leather from aloe vera. This project offers an eco-friendly alternative to animal leather and supports animal protection.

Hamad Town Secondary School for Girls secured second place with a sustainable agriculture project. They developed biochar from algae to improve soil quality and reduce water usage through smart irrigation. Meanwhile, Jidhafs Secondary School for Girls won third place with a project producing biodiesel fuel from jatropha seeds. This biofuel helps reduce pollution and fights global warming.

Bapco Energy’s leadership expressed pride in supporting educational programs that foster innovation and environmental responsibility. The company continues to champion efforts that merge education with sustainability, aiming to inspire the next generation.

In conclusion, green innovation in Bahraini schools plays a key role in shaping future leaders committed to sustainability. With continued collaboration, Bahrain can achieve its vision for a greener, more responsible future.
