The Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, has awarded the prestigious Al Wajbah Decoration to the outgoing French ambassador. Jean-Baptiste Faivre, who has concluded his diplomatic mission in Qatar, received the honor during a farewell meeting at the Amiri Diwan.
The award reflects Qatar’s appreciation for the ambassador’s role in strengthening Qatar-France ties.
This meeting was held to mark the end of Faivre’s tenure, during which he played a key part in boosting cooperation between the two countries. The key phrase “strengthening Qatar-France ties” was highlighted throughout the farewell, underlining the close and growing partnership between the nations.
During the ceremony, the Amir praised the ambassador’s efforts and wished him success in his upcoming diplomatic assignments. He also expressed hopes for continued growth in bilateral relations between Qatar and France.
In response, Ambassador Faivre expressed gratitude to the Amir and Qatari officials. He thanked them for their support and cooperation, which, he said, made his mission in Qatar smooth and effective. He also noted how “strengthening Qatar-France ties” had remained a guiding focus during his time in Doha.
The Al Wajbah Decoration is one of Qatar’s highest state honors. It is awarded to individuals who have made significant contributions to the nation or its global partnerships. Faivre’s recognition reflects the strong diplomatic rapport built over recent years.
Under his tenure, France and Qatar collaborated closely in sectors like culture, defense, and education. Events, exchanges, and high-level visits reflected the shared commitment to “strengthening Qatar-France ties” on multiple levels.
As Qatar prepares to welcome a new French envoy, the foundations laid by Ambassador Faivre are expected to support deeper cooperation in the years to come.
