Bahrain Launches Comprehensive Training Program to Protect Marine Resources and Environment

The Public Prosecution, in cooperation with the Supreme Council for the Environment, Ministry of Interior, and the Institute of Judicial and Legal Studies, launched a new training program on April 28, 2025. The program focuses on “Criminal Protection of Marine Resources and Environment.”

Attorney General Dr. Ali bin Fadhel Al Buainain inaugurated the program. He emphasized the importance of protecting Bahrain’s marine resources. These resources, he noted, are a key part of the Kingdom’s heritage and development. Dr. Al Buainain also highlighted the royal directives from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. The King has stressed the need to preserve these resources for future generations.

The Attorney General praised the swift actions of Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. These actions support Bahrain’s efforts to protect the environment. Furthermore, he acknowledged the work of the Supreme Council for the Environment. Led by Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Council has been vital in safeguarding marine resources.

The training program will address several key issues. It will cover how to monitor violations and handle judicial seizure procedures. Participants will also learn about criminal liability. Additionally, the program will explore how authorities can work together to enforce environmental laws. This will help protect Bahrain’s marine environment more effectively.

Furthermore, the program will run for four months. During this time, experts will lead a series of sessions and workshops. These sessions will focus on both legal and practical aspects of environmental protection. Dr. Riyadh Seyadi, Director of the Institute of Judicial and Legal Studies, emphasized the program’s importance. He stated that environmental protection is now a national duty. It is essential to ensure a sustainable future for generations to come.

In conclusion, by the end of the training, participants will be better equipped to safeguard Bahrain’s marine resources. Experts from the Public Prosecution, Ministry of Interior, and Supreme Council for the Environment will guide the program. This initiative supports Bahrain’s long-term goals for food and economic security.
