Bahrain Hosts Autism Awareness Marathon at Bahrain International Exhibition Centre

Bahrain recently hosted the third annual Autism Awareness Marathon at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre on Saturday, April 19, 2025. The event, which aimed to raise awareness for autism spectrum disorder, attracted over 500 participants. This included children with autism, their families, caregivers, and social activists. The marathon was organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior, the Alia Center for Early Intervention, and the Bahrain Runners Committee.

This year’s marathon featured a range of exciting activities designed for all age groups and abilities. Participants enjoyed running and walking races, family-friendly activities, and educational events focused on autism awareness. These events promoted unity, compassion, and solidarity for individuals with autism. They also highlighted the importance of supporting their families and caregivers.

The event covered an expansive 105,000 square meters of indoor space at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre, including corridors and the lobby of the main hall. The spacious venue was ideal for such a large-scale event, allowing for both recreational and educational activities to take place seamlessly. The event emphasized the significant role of the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre in hosting a variety of events. This includes both sporting and social initiatives.

Over the years, the Autism Awareness Marathon has seen a steady increase in attendance, with more participants, sponsors, and supporting organizations each year. This year, the event introduced new long-distance races, including a 5K indoor race, thanks to the venue’s spacious facilities. These additions helped strengthen the reputation of the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre. It is the perfect location for indoor sporting events.

The marathon not only raised awareness about autism but also highlighted Bahrain’s ongoing efforts to support social initiatives. Through events like these, the country continues to build a compassionate and inclusive society for all. The Bahrain International Exhibition Centre remains a vital hub for such initiatives, consistently providing a platform for community engagement and social change.

In conclusion, the Autism Awareness Marathon at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre achieved its goal of bringing the community together. It successfully raised awareness for autism and supported those affected by it. The event also showcased the centre’s ability to host large, impactful events. This reinforced its importance in Bahrain’s commitment to fostering social solidarity and inclusiveness.
