Kuwait Sends 20th Relief Plane to Syria as Part of Ongoing Humanitarian Efforts

The 20th relief plane from the Kuwaiti air bridge departed on Sunday from Kuwait, bound for Damascus International Airport. The flight carried 36 tons of foodstuffs as part of Kuwait’s humanitarian campaign, “Kuwait by Your Side.” This latest effort was organized in collaboration with Kuwait’s Zakat House and the Ministries of Defense and Interior. The Kuwait Air Force played a key role in the operation.

Aayed Al-Mutairi, the Projects and Local Organizations Superintendent at the Zakat House, spoke to KUNA before the plane’s departure. He highlighted that the aid focused on delivering flour. Flour is a critical item due to its high demand in Syrian governorates, which require an estimated 5,000 tons of flour daily. Al-Mutairi emphasized that the aid shipments would continue after Ramadan. Additionally, 20 trucks carrying more assistance are being prepared for land delivery, coordinated with relevant authorities.

Zakat House spokesperson Manal Hussein also reaffirmed the significance of the “Kuwait Stands by You” humanitarian campaign in supporting Syria. She noted the vital role of Kuwaiti donations in sustaining these efforts. Furthermore, she stressed the continued coordination with Kuwaiti ministries, the Syrian Red Crescent, and local authorities.

This shipment marks the third initiative by the Zakat House, with a total of 122 tons of aid delivered so far. This contributes to the overall total of 571 tons sent via the Kuwaiti air bridge.
