Shura Council Pushes for Strong Family Values and National Identity

Doha – The Shura Council, led by Speaker HE Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim, held a session on Monday to discuss ways to strengthen family values and reinforce national identity. The session focused on a proposal from two members of the Council. This proposal aimed to improve family upbringing and preserve Qatar’s social and cultural values.

Al Ghanim emphasized that strong family values serve as the foundation of a united society. He highlighted that raising children with authentic cultural and moral principles helps shape a responsible and cohesive generation. He also stressed the need for institutions to work together. They should provide an educational environment that aligns with Qatar National Vision 2030.

HE Abdulrahman bin Yousuf Al Khulaifi, Chairman of the Social Affairs, Labor, and Housing Committee, underscored the importance of protecting family structures. He noted that raising children with a deep understanding of morality, patriotism, and religion helps shield society from negative influences. He also pointed out that family upbringing plays a crucial role in maintaining national identity and social unity.

During the discussions, Shura Council members supported the proposal, emphasizing its significance in strengthening family values and reinforcing national identity. They called for immediate measures to implement recommendations that protect and promote cultural and social values among younger generations.

The Council decided to submit a formal proposal to the government with several key recommendations. One major suggestion was establishing nurseries in workplaces to help mothers care for their children in a suitable setting. These nurseries would require staff to complete specialized training on Qatari culture, traditions, and values.

Another recommendation focused on educating nursery workers and caregivers about Islamic values. The proposal suggested using brochures, media campaigns, and short films in multiple languages. This approach would ensure a clear understanding of cultural expectations. Additionally, the Council encouraged the private sector to establish training centers to prepare caregivers for their roles.

The Council also proposed strengthening private schools by hiring trained social workers. These social workers should understand and reflect Qatar’s cultural values. They would guide students and teachers, ensuring that young people grow up with strong family values and a clear sense of national identity.

In other matters, the Council Speaker referred a draft law concerning ministers to the Legal and Legislative Affairs Committee for review. Before concluding, the Council reviewed reports on its participation in regional and international parliamentary meetings.

By prioritizing family values and reinforcing national identity, the Shura Council aims to safeguard Qatar’s future. These recommendations mark a crucial step toward ensuring a well-rounded upbringing for younger generations. Family values and national identity remain at the heart of this initiative, reflecting Qatar’s commitment to its traditions and culture.
