Bahrain Celebrates World Consumer Rights Day with Focus on Sustainability

Manama, Bahrain – On March 15 each year, Bahrain joins the world in celebrating World Consumer Rights Day. This year’s theme, “Sustainable Lifestyles,” highlights the importance of adopting eco-friendly practices. Abdullah bin Adel Fakhro, Bahrain’s Minister of Industry and Commerce, emphasized the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to protect consumer rights.

Fakhro stated that promoting sustainable consumption is a top priority for the Ministry. He added that this focus is achieved by empowering consumers to make responsible decisions. This ensures that they can navigate the marketplace in a way that benefits both the environment and their well-being. The Minister explained that sustainable lifestyles are no longer a choice but a necessity for the future.

In his speech, Fakhro also mentioned the need for collaboration between various sectors. Government agencies, private companies, civil society, and consumers all have a role to play. When everyone works together, they create a fair and transparent consumer environment. This collaborative approach encourages responsible business practices.

The Ministry of Industry and Commerce will continue to launch new initiatives to promote sustainable consumption. Fakhro noted that the Ministry would also collaborate with local and international organizations to share successful strategies. By learning from global experiences, Bahrain aims to create a more sustainable and consumer-friendly market.

Additionally, the Ministry is focusing on engaging young people in sustainability efforts. Through partnerships with the Ministry of Education and local schools, youth are encouraged to adopt responsible consumption habits. As Fakhro explained, this will help create a more conscious future generation.

The Ministry of Industry and Commerce remains committed to protecting consumer rights. Fakhro stressed that this is not only a legal duty but also a moral responsibility. A fair market depends on informed consumers who understand the consequences of their purchasing choices. By continuing these efforts, Bahrain aims to enhance consumer confidence and promote a sustainable economic environment.

To sum up, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce calls on all sectors to work together in the ongoing pursuit of these important goals.
