Gold Prices Remain Stable in Baghdad and Erbil

Gold prices Iraq remained largely stable in Baghdad and Erbil on Tuesday, with traders reporting little change from the previous day.

In Baghdad, wholesale prices at Al-Nahr Street held steady across several types of 21-carat gold. Gulf, Turkish and European gold continued to trade at 960,000 Iraqi dinars per mithqal, equivalent to approximately five grams.

Wholesale buyers in the same Baghdad market offered 956,000 dinars per mithqal for the 21-carat Gulf, Turkish and European varieties. Both the selling and buying rates remained unchanged from Monday morning.

Meanwhile, locally produced Iraqi gold continued to trade at a lower level. The 21-carat Iraqi variety sold for 930,000 dinars per mithqal in the wholesale market.

Gold traders bought the Iraqi 21-carat variety for 926,000 dinars per mithqal. Therefore, the local gold rate also maintained the same level recorded during the previous morning.

Retail jewelry shops in Baghdad quoted somewhat wider selling ranges. Gulf 21-carat gold sold for between 960,000 and 970,000 dinars per mithqal.

Iraqi 21-carat gold, meanwhile, traded between 930,000 and 940,000 dinars per mithqal at retail jewelry stores. The differences reflect the separate prices reported between wholesale and retail markets.

Elsewhere, gold prices in Erbil also remained stable during Tuesday trading. The Kurdistan Region capital recorded separate prices based on gold purity.

In Erbil, 22-carat gold sold for 993,000 dinars per mithqal. At the same time, 21-carat gold was priced at 950,000 dinars per mithqal.

The reported price for 18-carat gold in Erbil stood at 813,000 dinars per mithqal. Unlike the movements seen in some other markets, the reported Erbil prices remained unchanged from the previous day.

Gold prices Iraq showed limited movement across both Baghdad and Erbil on Tuesday. The available figures indicate that wholesale and retail rates largely held their previous levels.

In Baghdad, the 21-carat Gulf, Turkish and European varieties remained 960,000 dinars per mithqal at wholesale markets. Retail outlets, however, placed the selling range as high as 970,000 dinars.

The Iraqi 21-carat variety continued to trade below the imported and foreign-market varieties in Baghdad. Wholesale sellers priced it at 930,000 dinars, while retail shops quoted between 930,000 and 940,000 dinars.

Erbil’s market followed a similar pattern of stability, although it reported prices according to three different purity levels. The highest reported rate applied to 22-carat gold at 993,000 dinars per mithqal.

The 21-carat rate reached 950,000 dinars, while 18-carat gold stood at 813,000 dinars per mithqal. These prices remained steady during the reported Tuesday session.

The latest figures come after a significant milestone earlier this year in Iraq’s domestic gold market. On January 21, 2026, the price of 21-carat Iraqi gold exceeded one million dinars per mithqal for the first time.

However, Tuesday’s reported prices stood below that earlier milestone for the Iraqi 21-carat variety. The Baghdad wholesale market recorded 930,000 dinars per mithqal, while retail prices reached up to 940,000 dinars.

Gold prices Iraq consequently remained broadly unchanged across the two markets on Tuesday morning. Baghdad and Erbil both reported stable rates, despite differences between gold purity, origin and market type.

The reported figures cover wholesale and retail trading in Baghdad and gold rates in Erbil. They do not provide any additional explanation for the stability observed during Tuesday’s session.

For consumers and traders, the latest prices show that gold maintained relatively steady levels across Iraq’s major markets. Meanwhile, the different rates continue to reflect variations in purity and whether the gold is locally produced or sourced from Gulf, Turkish or European markets.
