Saudi FM Urges End to Settler Violence Against Palestinians

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan has called for an immediate end to violence by Israeli settlers against Palestinians, urging greater international accountability and renewed efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace.

Speaking at a high-level interfaith dialogue in Rome on Wednesday, Prince Faisal said attacks carried out by settlers under the protection or support of Israeli security forces must stop and those responsible should be held accountable.

The meeting, chaired by Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, brought together Palestinian Foreign Minister Varsen Aghabekian Shahin, members of the Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution and other international partners.

Prince Faisal said dialogue between followers of different faiths is essential to building lasting peace, stressing that security cannot be achieved while Palestinians are denied their legitimate rights.

He also reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s position on Jerusalem, rejecting any attempts to alter the city’s historical and legal status or that of its Islamic and Christian holy sites. The foreign minister warned that repeated provocations at Al-Aqsa Mosque and continued settlement expansion risk fueling tensions and undermining regional stability.

Prince Faisal welcomed recent steps taken by some countries, including sanctions on individuals linked to violence against Palestinians and restrictions targeting Israeli settlements. He called for further international measures to strengthen accountability and prevent future violations.

He reiterated Saudi Arabia’s commitment to working with the United States, the State of Palestine and international partners to advance diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving a two-state solution and promoting peaceful coexistence.
