The United Arab Emirates has condemned attacks by Israeli settlers on towns and villages in the occupied West Bank, including incidents in which two mosques were set on fire.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the mosque attacks as provocative acts against Muslims and condemned what it called repeated acts of violence by Israeli settlers.
The ministry called on the Israeli government to take full responsibility, publicly condemn the attacks and hold those responsible accountable. It warned that failing to do so would encourage further violence, fuel hatred and increase regional instability.
The UAE also urged the international community to act to stop violations in the occupied Palestinian territory and prevent further escalation. It reiterated support for renewed regional and international efforts to advance the Middle East peace process and preserve the two-state solution.
According to Palestinian officials, the two mosques were targeted in separate attacks on Sunday. One was in the village of Kur, south of Tulkarem, while the other, which was still under construction, was located in the town of Qusra, south of Nablus.
The latest incidents come amid heightened tensions in the occupied West Bank following recent violence and ongoing Israeli military operations in the area.
