The United Arab Emirates continues to expand travel opportunities for international visitors through its five-year multiple-entry tourist visa, offering eligible travellers greater flexibility for family, leisure and business visits.
The visa allows visitors of all nationalities to stay in the UAE for up to 90 days per visit, with the option to extend the stay by another 90 days, provided the total time spent in the country does not exceed 180 days in one year.
Introduced in 2021, the long-term tourist visa forms part of the UAE’s efforts to strengthen its position as a global destination for tourism, business and remote work.
Eligibility and Required Documents
Applicants must meet several conditions before applying, including:
- A passport valid for at least six months.
- A confirmed onward or return travel ticket.
- Valid health insurance covering their stay in the UAE.
- Proof of a bank balance of at least $4,000, or its equivalent, during the six months before applying.
- A recent passport-sized colour photograph.
Some applicants may also be required to submit a national identity card, depending on their nationality.
How to Apply
Applications can be submitted through the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) or the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) using their online platforms. Visitors can also apply through Customer Happiness Centres or authorised typing centres.
Authorities said visa processing typically takes up to 48 hours once all required documents have been submitted.
Fees and Important Rules
The total application fee varies depending on the application channel, with costs starting at around Dh3,700, including issuance fees, security deposits and service charges.
Visa holders must enter the UAE within 60 days of the visa being issued. They must also ensure they do not exceed the permitted length of stay, as violations may result in fines, visa cancellation and the loss of the security deposit.
Reasons for Rejection
Applications may be rejected if required documents or information are not submitted within the specified deadlines or if eligibility requirements are not met.
In cases of cancellation, rejection or expiry, eligible applicants may receive refunds for certain fees and security deposits, subject to the authorities’ refund policy.
