A key maritime cargo route connecting Iran and Qatar has resumed operations after being suspended for five months due to regional conflict, restoring an important trade link between the two countries.
The shipping service between Iran’s Dayyer Port and Qatar’s Al-Ruwais Port was halted after the conflict disrupted maritime activity and caused damage to infrastructure, including strikes on Dayyer Port.
Abbas Abdolkhani, Iran’s commercial attaché in Doha, said the route was reopened following coordination between the Iranian Embassy in Qatar and Qatari maritime authorities, according to Iranian state media.
The restored shipping link is expected to strengthen trade by reducing transportation costs and improving the movement of goods between the two countries. Al-Ruwais Port serves as a key gateway for Iranian exports entering the Qatari market, making the route an important component of bilateral commerce.
The reopening also reflects continued cooperation between Tehran and Doha as efforts continue to support regional trade despite recent geopolitical tensions. Qatar has also played a diplomatic role in facilitating dialogue aimed at easing tensions in the region.
