Kuwait Eases Rules On Expat Job And Qualification Changes

Kuwait has relaxed restrictions on expatriate workers seeking to update their educational qualifications and registered professions, in a move aimed at improving labor market efficiency and aligning official records with employees’ actual roles.

The Public Authority for Manpower announced that expatriates can now amend their qualifications and professional titles, provided the changes correspond to the nature of the work they perform. The decision took effect on June 2.

The authority said the measure removes a major obstacle that previously affected the issuance of work permits for certain occupations requiring specific academic or professional credentials.

Officials said the change is intended to strengthen the link between workers’ educational and professional backgrounds and their current jobs, while enhancing transparency across the labor market.

Kuwait’s labor authorities said the updated regulations will help ensure that workforce records more accurately reflect employees’ qualifications, supporting better oversight and improving administrative procedures for employers and workers alike.
