A Bahraini social and religious affairs figure has been awarded the Excellence in Cultural Diplomacy Award 2026 in recognition of his work promoting tolerance, coexistence, and intercultural dialogue.
Yousef Mohammed Bouzaboun, president of the Bahrain Society for Religious Tolerance and Coexistence “Taayush”, received the honour during an international ceremony held in Muharraq. The event brought together 35 Bahraini, Arab and international figures recognised for contributions in leadership, innovation and public service.
The award, presented by the Global Knowledge Exchange Foundation in cooperation with the Franklin Hudson School of Business, highlights individuals who have worked to strengthen cultural understanding and human connection across societies.
Organisers said Bouzaboun was selected for his efforts in advancing initiatives that promote religious tolerance and civilisational dialogue, as well as for showcasing Bahrain’s approach to cultural openness and diversity.
In remarks following the award, Bouzaboun dedicated the honour to Bahrain’s leadership and people, saying the country has served as a model for coexistence and respect for religious and cultural diversity.
He added that initiatives led through the “Taayush” association aim to transform these values into practical programmes that encourage dialogue and mutual understanding between communities.
Bouzaboun also described the recognition as an encouragement to continue promoting Bahrain’s message of tolerance in regional and international forums.
