Saudi Arabia reaffirms support for Bahrain’s security measures amid regional tensions

Saudi Arabia has reiterated its backing for steps taken by Bahrain to protect its national security, emphasizing close coordination between the two Gulf states at a time of heightened regional tensions.

In a statement issued by the foreign ministry, Saudi Arabia expressed support for what it described as sovereign measures adopted by Bahrain’s leadership to safeguard stability and maintain internal security. The statement stressed that any threats targeting Bahrain’s sovereignty would be met with firm regional concern.

Saudi officials underlined that Bahrain’s security remains closely linked to that of Saudi Arabia and the wider Gulf. This position reflects longstanding cooperation among Gulf states on defense and security matters, particularly during periods of geopolitical instability.

The statement comes against the backdrop of ongoing tensions involving Iran, following a series of reported attacks on infrastructure across the region. Since the escalation began earlier this year, several Gulf countries have reported strikes affecting key facilities, raising concerns over regional stability and economic security.

Meanwhile, the International Telecommunication Union has taken steps to address the impact of recent attacks on communications systems. The agency’s governing council approved a resolution to monitor and report damage to telecommunications infrastructure in several affected countries, including Bahrain, Kuwait, the UAE and Jordan.

The resolution followed a joint push by Gulf Cooperation Council members along with Jordan, who called for international attention to the risks posed to civilian communications networks. The move signals growing concern within the international community over the potential disruption of essential services during periods of conflict.

Observers say the developments highlight the increasing overlap between regional security challenges and critical infrastructure protection. As tensions persist, Gulf states continue to coordinate responses aimed at maintaining stability and safeguarding vital systems.
