Tawasul Youth Short Film Award returns for its fourth edition as Oman opens registration for young filmmakers. The initiative aims to support creative talent and encourage meaningful storytelling among youth.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth announced the launch through its Department of Communication and Youth Dialogue. Officials confirmed that this year’s edition will continue focusing on social awareness and creative expression. Moreover, the award encourages participants to explore issues that affect individuals and communities.
Participants will examine themes related to personal identity and social relationships. In addition, filmmakers will address connections between individuals and their surrounding environment. These topics aim to spark thoughtful discussions and highlight diverse perspectives within society.
Officials emphasized that the award plays a key role in developing national talent. They explained that the program continues to discover emerging filmmakers and strengthen their technical skills. Furthermore, the initiative aligns with Oman Vision 2040, which promotes knowledge, innovation, and cultural awareness.
Over the past editions, participation has grown significantly. Organizers reported an increase in both submissions and creative diversity. As a result, the award has gained recognition as a platform for youth engagement and artistic development.
The Tawasul Youth Short Film Award also creates opportunities for dialogue between young people and institutions. It provides a space where ideas can develop through storytelling and visual expression. Consequently, participants can share their perspectives and contribute to cultural conversations.
The Ministry outlined clear participation guidelines for this year’s competition. The award accepts narrative films, documentaries, animation, and digital productions. However, all participants must be Omani nationals, including most of the production team.
Organizers also require originality in all submissions. Films must not appear previously on social media or public platforms. Additionally, creators must avoid offensive content and maintain an objective tone. The Ministry also limited the use of artificial intelligence tools to preserve authenticity.
Eligible films must have been produced between 2025 and 2026. Each submission must run between one minute and 45 minutes. Filmmakers can submit their work through the official platform before the deadline on October 1, 2026.
