Global Technologist Empowers Communities from Two Wheels

Dr. Singara Vadivel is redefining adventure by empowering communities through technology on a global motorcycle journey. What started as a corporate career in Silicon Valley transformed into a mission that spans continents and cultures. His current stop in Oman illustrates how travel, innovation, and human connection intersect to create meaningful impact.

At 58, Dr. Vadivel has already visited 59 countries, merging his technical expertise with a vision to make technology accessible worldwide. He explains, “Technology should not be a privilege. It must be a bridge connecting opportunities to people everywhere.”

Born in a small village in Tamil Nadu, India, Dr. Vadivel grew up in a family of six siblings. Limited resources never stopped him from pursuing education. He earned a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering from Anna University, followed by a PhD in Computer Science in the United States.

For 35 years, he held senior roles at global tech companies, including Microsoft and Bell Labs. Yet, he realized professional success alone could not address the inequities he observed. Two years ago, he left corporate life to ride a BMW R1250 GSA motorcycle across the world, turning every stop into an opportunity to share knowledge and advocate for digital inclusion.

In Africa, he also engaged with over 100 enterprises and 29 universities, promoting Artificial Intelligence and Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI). “India’s digital journey provides a blueprint. If adapted thoughtfully, it can unlock potential across the Global South,” he says.

Oman became an unexpected stop due to regional travel disruptions. Dr. Vadivel transformed the pause into an opportunity by meeting local communities, students, and executives, delivering talks on technology, innovation, as well as resilience. His philosophy, “Ride to be One,” emphasizes unity and shared experiences.

Through these efforts, he is empowering communities through technology, sparking discussions on digital inclusion, entrepreneurship, and lifelong learning. Each conversation strengthens his vision of a connected, digitally empowered world.

Overall, Dr. Vadivel plans to reach 100 countries, continuing to inspire, educate, and create change. His motorcycle may carry him forward, but his mission is larger than any vehicle, it is a global movement. He reiterates, “It’s about the connections you make along the way, not the bike.”
