Qatar, Kyrgyzstan Discuss Regional Security in High-Level UN Meeting

Qatar emphasizes regional security in a high-level meeting with Kyrgyz officials in New York. The discussion highlighted joint efforts to maintain stability amid ongoing regional tensions.

Permanent Representative of Qatar to the United Nations Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al Thani met with Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Edil Baisalov at Qatar’s Permanent Mission. During the talks, Sheikha Alya reiterated Qatar’s firm condemnation of Iranian attacks on Qatari territory. She referenced UN Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026), which condemned attacks on Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states and demanded their immediate cessation.

Baisalov expressed Kyrgyzstan’s solidarity with Qatar, emphasizing the importance of regional security and stability. He noted that cooperation among nations is essential to counter threats and strengthen collective resilience. Both officials agreed that diplomatic dialogue and multilateral coordination remain crucial to preserving peace in the Gulf region.

The meeting underscores Qatar’s commitment to reinforcing regional security while fostering partnerships with international allies. Through such engagements, Qatar aims to advance collaborative strategies to address threats, enhance defensive readiness, and promote stability across the Gulf and neighboring regions.

Sheikha Alya also highlighted Qatar’s proactive approach in implementing UN resolutions and coordinating with GCC partners. These measures ensure that diplomatic channels remain open and that regional security concerns are addressed in a unified and effective manner.

Kyrgyzstan’s support further strengthens Qatar’s diplomatic efforts, reflecting shared interests in promoting peace, preventing escalation, and enhancing regional cooperation. Both countries confirmed their intention to maintain close communication and explore additional mechanisms for collaboration on security matters.

By combining strong diplomacy with adherence to international law, Qatar continues to safeguard regional security while reinforcing partnerships with supportive global allies. This meeting in New York demonstrates Qatar’s active role in shaping policies that uphold stability in the Gulf region.
