Ras Al Khaimah Police Ready for UAE Tour Cycling Event

Ras Al Khaimah Police have confirmed their full readiness to ensure the safety and smooth execution of the upcoming UAE Tour cycling event, scheduled to take place in the emirate on Wednesday, February 19. As part of the preparations, several road closures have been announced to facilitate the race.

The competition will cover a challenging 179km route, concluding at the summit of Jebel Jais, one of the highest peaks in the UAE.

Brigadier General Ahmed Al Samm Al Naqbi, Director of the Central Operations Department, chaired a meeting of the UAE Tour Security Committee to discuss final preparations. Senior officials, including Brigadier General Dr. Yusuf bin Yaqub, Deputy Director of Central Operations, and Lieutenant Colonel Salem Bourqeiba, Acting Director of the Traffic and Patrols Department, attended the meeting. They were joined by representatives from various police departments involved in securing the event.

Security Measures and Race Route

Brigadier General Al Naqbi confirmed that a comprehensive security plan has been put in place to protect both participants and the public. The plan includes securing the entire race route. The race route will start at Corniche Al Qawasim, pass through multiple streets, and end at Jebel Jais. Authorities aim to not only ensure the safety of cyclists but also uphold the UAE’s reputation as a premier host of international sporting events.

The UAE Tour is expected to attract a large number of international competitors. Police efforts will focus on ensuring a seamless experience for both participants and spectators. Brigadier General Al Naqbi stressed the importance of maintaining the country’s global standing by guaranteeing a smooth and secure race.

Traffic Management and Security Deployment

The race is set to begin at 11:54 AM on Wednesday, with the finish line scheduled for 4:20 PM at Jebel Jais. To ensure safety, 50 police patrols will be deployed along the race route. These patrols will provide continuous monitoring and rapid response capabilities if required.

Lieutenant Colonel Bourqeiba highlighted that traffic management will be a key focus. Temporary road closures will be in place along the race path. Roads will reopen to the public once the last cyclist has passed, ensuring minimal disruption. The route has been divided into seven sectors, each designed for efficient security and traffic regulation. Motorists are encouraged to use alternative routes to avoid delays.

Authorities have urged the public to cooperate by following police instructions and exercising patience during the event. These measures are aimed at safeguarding the cyclists and maintaining smooth traffic flow across the emirate.

To finalize all arrangements, a full rehearsal will be conducted on Monday. This will ensure that all systems are in place ahead of the main event on Wednesday.
