Bahrain’s Tourism CEO Joins GCC Tourism Ministers’ Preparatory Meeting in Kuwait

Ms. Sarah Ahmed Buhiji, the CEO of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority, recently attended the Ninth Preparatory Meeting of the Committee of Ministers Responsible for Tourism in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, held in Kuwait.

During the meeting, Buhiji highlighted the significance of strengthening tourism collaboration across the GCC. She emphasized that this preparatory meeting serves as an essential platform for aligning efforts and formulating joint strategies to advance the tourism sector in the region.

Buhiji underscored the vital role tourism plays in supporting national economies and fostering cooperation among GCC nations. She further noted Bahrain’s commitment to promoting regional tourism and positioning the GCC countries as a unified tourist destination, leveraging the advanced infrastructure and rich cultural heritage shared by these nations.

The CEO also observed the impressive growth in Gulf tourism, which has increasingly become a key income source for the region. She stressed the importance of providing distinctive tourism experiences that reflect the Gulf’s unique identity and enhance its global standing in the tourism industry.

Additionally, Buhiji reaffirmed that cooperation in Gulf tourism is crucial for economic development and cultural unity. She called for the development of innovative tourism products that attract global visitors while showcasing the region’s hospitality and luxury services.

The meeting also addressed several crucial topics, including the creation of a unified Gulf tourist visa, joint marketing initiatives, and enhancing tourism statistics and guidance. Through these efforts, the GCC nations aim to solidify their position as top global tourism destinations.
