Bahrain Celebrates Heritage and Tradition at Fifth National Day Festival

The spirit of Bahraini culture comes alive as the Kingdom kicks off its fifth National Day Festival at the Heritage Village. This celebration highlights Bahrain’s rich heritage, bringing together music, crafts, and traditions in an immersive experience. Visitors can explore Bahrain’s artistic legacy while enjoying interactive activities and vibrant performances throughout the festival.

The festival opened on December 4th at Ras Hayyan and runs until December 28th. From the very first day, the Bahraini Choir captured attention with patriotic songs that honor Bahrain’s identity. Their group performances skillfully blend music and heritage, offering visitors a strong connection to Bahrain’s rich heritage. The choir will deliver four distinct concerts during the festival, ensuring audiences experience the country’s artistic spirit firsthand.

Traditional performances continue with the Al-Kari team presenting dynamic heritage tableaux. These shows combine folk rhythms with authentic practices, providing a window into Bahrain’s cultural roots. In addition, five other heritage groups perform daily, with two shows each weekend, enriching the festival’s atmosphere.

The event emphasizes interactive experiences, encouraging visitors to actively engage with traditional crafts. Workshops cover pottery, palm frond weaving, traditional chest making, ship modeling, and weaving. These sessions allow guests to explore skills that have shaped Bahrain’s rich heritage for generations. They also create a lively space where history and creativity meet.

Beyond performances and workshops, the festival includes a traditional market featuring local producers, a children’s corner with fun activities, and restaurants offering authentic Bahraini cuisine. Together, these elements create a welcoming environment that unites families, residents, and visitors.

The festival is organized by several ministries and government institutions, supported by sponsors including the National Bank of Bahrain, Al-Kooheji Contracting Company, SEPCO, Bayonne, Souq Al-Baraha, and Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company. Heritage Village welcomes guests from 6:30 PM to midnight on opening day, daily from 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM during weekdays, and from 4:00 PM to midnight on weekends.

With its combination of music, arts, crafts, and culinary delights, the fifth National Day Festival reinforces Bahrain’s commitment to preserving traditions while engaging the community. Visitors are invited to celebrate culture, creativity, and history at this lively festival that honors the Kingdom’s past and present.
