Oman’s women cricketers gained crucial international cricket exposure during the YSD Malaysian Super Women Series 2025. The tournament offered a platform for players from ICC Associate nations to compete and learn in a franchise-based T20 competition.
The third edition of the series took place at the Borneo Cricket Ground in Kuching, Sarawak. Over 75 players participated, including 40 Malaysians and 35 international cricketers, divided into five teams: Central Super Girls, Eastern Lioness, Northern Queens, Southern Jaguars, and Western Wonder Women. The Southern Jaguars ultimately claimed the championship.
Representing Oman in the Western Wonder Women team, Jayadhanya Gunasekar impressed with her bowling skills. She claimed eight wickets across five matches, finishing among the top five wicket-takers in the tournament. Her standout performance of 3 for 7 demonstrated her growing consistency and confidence.
Jayadhanya also reflected on the experience, saying, “The series was unforgettable. It offered excellent international cricket exposure and allowed me to compete with top players from different countries.” She expressed gratitude toward Oman Cricket and the Malaysian Cricket Association for organizing a professional and well-managed event.
Lujaina Sajid, who represented the Eastern Lioness, did not feature in matches but highlighted the learning opportunities the tour provided. “Representing Oman abroad gave me confidence and taught professionalism. Observing senior players offered valuable insights,” she explained.
This marks the second consecutive year Oman sent women cricketers to participate in the Malaysian Super Women Series. Last year, Fiza Javed and Sameera Khan represented the country, gaining their first international cricket exposure.
For Oman’s developing women’s cricket program, such participation is critical. It not only enhances individual skills but also strengthens the national team’s foundation. International cricket exposure prepares players to compete confidently in higher-level tournaments and boosts the country’s profile in women’s cricket.
