Qatar continues to promote dialogue among civilizations as a key tool for building mutual understanding and international peace. The Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the Qatar Committee for the Alliance of Civilizations, Dr. Ahmed bin Hassan Al Hammadi, recently participated in the symposium. “Building Bridges: Qatar and Germany in Dialogue for Tolerance, Peace, and Solidarity.” The event took place at the Arab Culture House in Berlin, Germany.
The symposium gathered prominent figures, including Michael Müller, a member of the German Parliament and former Mayor of Berlin. In addition, intellectuals, professors, and advocates of intercultural dialogue from both Qatar and Germany attended the event. The discussions emphasized building bridges of cooperation and promoting coexistence, respect, and solidarity between societies.
During his speech, Al Hammadi highlighted that dialogue among civilizations is essential for fostering communication between peoples. He also emphasized Qatar’s efforts to support humanitarian and development initiatives worldwide, especially in countries emerging from conflict.
Furthermore, Al Hammadi announced the launch of the fifth edition of the Qatar Global Award for Dialogue Among Civilizations 2025–2026. This edition focuses on “The Role of Youth in Achieving Civilizational Advancement and Promoting Human Communication.” The program is organized in collaboration with the ICESCO Chair in Alliance of Civilizations at Qatar University’s College of Sharia and Islamic Studies.
On the sidelines of the symposium, Dr. Al Hammadi met Dr. Geza Andreas von Geyr, State Secretary of Germany’s Foreign Office. They discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation and explore new areas of mutual interest between Qatar and Germany. The meeting included Qatar’s Ambassador to Germany, Abdullah bin Ibrahim Al Hamar, and other members of the accompanying delegation.
Through these initiatives, Qatar demonstrates its proactive role in promoting dialogue among civilizations. By connecting cultures and encouraging cross-border collaboration, the country aims to contribute to global peace, stability, and human development.
Overall, the Berlin symposium highlighted the growing importance of intercultural dialogue and Qatar’s commitment to leading these efforts. As countries face challenges in a rapidly changing world, dialogue among civilizations stays central to building trust and lasting partnerships.
