Saudi Arabia continues to show strong dedication to global health cooperation. The Kingdom recently joined the 72nd session of the WHO Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean in Cairo. The meeting ran from October 15 to 17 and brought together health leaders from across the region.
The discussions aimed to improve healthcare systems and expand universal health coverage. Saudi Minister of Health Fahad AlJalajel met health ministers from Egypt, Pakistan, and Iran. They explored ways to strengthen regional health coordination and speed up emergency response efforts. The talks also focused on boosting campaigns to eliminate polio across the region.
In Cairo, AlJalajel also met with WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean Hanan Balkhy. Their conversation centered on improving access to modern medical solutions and making healthcare more inclusive. They agreed on the importance of fair access to services for all communities.
Saudi Arabia’s delegation also held meetings with several health experts. These talks focused on building stronger healthcare systems that can handle future challenges. During a special session with the Executive Sponsors of the Polio Legacy Challenge, AlJalajel highlighted Saudi Arabia’s ongoing fight against polio.
