Oman Launches RDF Production Project Feasibility

Oman Environmental Services Holding Company (be’ah), Raysut Cement Company, and Germany’s MVW Lechtenberg & Partner have teamed up to explore the feasibility of an RDF production project in Oman. This project aims to convert waste into refuse-derived fuel (RDF), offering a sustainable energy solution for the Sultanate’s cement industry.

Under the patronage of Dr. Mansour bin Talib al Hinai, Chairman of the Authority for Public Services Regulation, the agreement focuses on creating a sustainable business model that will benefit all stakeholders involved. It also supports Oman’s broader environmental goals by promoting alternative energy sources and reducing waste.

Kamil bin Ahmed al Lawati, Vice President of Business Development at be’ah, explained that this initiative is an important step towards sustainability. He stated, “This project will help reduce reliance on fossil fuels, lower carbon emissions, and make Oman’s cement sector more competitive both locally and regionally.”

Hilal bin Saif al Dhamri, CEO of Raysut Cement, emphasized the significance of the collaboration in advancing Oman’s circular economy. He said, “The RDF production project supports our goal of achieving carbon neutrality and demonstrates the partnership’s role in creating long-term environmental benefits.”

Dirk Lechtenberg, CEO of MVW Lechtenberg & Partner, highlighted the innovative nature of the project. He noted, “Converting waste into clean energy aligns with global efforts toward a low-carbon economy.”

This RDF production project in Oman is expected to transform waste management practices, providing both environmental and economic benefits. It will help Oman reduce its carbon footprint while contributing to sustainable growth.
