Qatar Reaffirms Support for Afghan Earthquake Victims in High-Level Phone Call

Qatar has pledged its continued solidarity with Afghanistan following the recent earthquake that struck several provinces. During a phone call, Minister of State for International Cooperation Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad assured Kabul of Qatar’s full commitment to supporting earthquake victims.

Al Misnad conveyed her condolences to Acting Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi. She expressed deep sympathy for the families who lost loved ones and wished a swift recovery for the injured. She stressed that Qatar remains dedicated to assisting those affected, with particular attention to women, children, and displaced families.

The minister emphasized that Qatar views humanitarian aid as a central responsibility. She explained that providing relief for earthquake victims reflects the country’s core values of compassion, solidarity, and international cooperation. According to her, Qatar will continue to extend assistance whenever communities face devastating natural disasters.

Muttaqi, representing the caretaker Afghan government, explained that the earthquake caused extensive destruction across four provinces. He noted that rescue teams were still working to reach stranded residents and provide urgent relief. He expressed appreciation for Qatar’s consistent humanitarian efforts and its readiness to stand with Afghanistan during difficult times.

The phone call underscored the strong ties between the two countries. Both sides highlighted the importance of international cooperation in responding to emergencies that overwhelm local capacities. Observers believe that Qatar’s swift outreach strengthens its role as a regional leader in humanitarian diplomacy.

Furthermore, officials confirmed that Qatar’s support will not end with immediate relief. Plans include exploring long-term assistance projects designed to rebuild infrastructure, restore stability, and help affected communities recover. These initiatives aim to ensure that earthquake victims receive sustained care beyond the emergency phase.

This commitment adds to Qatar’s record of providing aid across different crises worldwide. Its humanitarian policy focuses on rapid response, practical assistance, and sustained recovery. By extending this support to Afghanistan, Qatar reinforces its global reputation as a nation deeply committed to human solidarity.

Ultimately, the phone call demonstrated more than diplomatic courtesy. It reaffirmed Qatar’s role as a reliable partner in times of crisis and emphasized its determination to stand beside vulnerable communities.
