Ramadan School Holiday Announced in New Academic Calendar

Kuwait’s Ministry of Education made an important announcement. The last week of Ramadan will be a public holiday. This Ramadan school holiday applies to students and staff. Teachers and administrative employees are also included. Importantly, the break will not reduce the total number of school days.

This decision is part of a new five-year academic calendar. Education Minister Jalal Al-Tabtabaei approved the framework. The new calendar aims to save millions of dinars. It specifically addresses previously wasted school days. Furthermore, it hopes to curb widespread absenteeism around holidays.

The framework sets very precise dates for the entire year. It includes the start and end of the academic year. Exam periods are now clearly defined. Official holidays and regular breaks are also scheduled. This Ramadan school holiday provides clarity for families.

In other news, the summer midday work ban has ended. The Public Authority of Manpower made this announcement. The ban prohibited outdoor work from 11 am to 4 pm. It was in effect from June 1st to August 31st. This safety measure protects workers from extreme heat.

Temperatures often exceed fifty degrees Celsius. The ban applied only to worksites directly under the sun. Authorities conducted extensive inspections across all governorates. They found sixty-three sites violated the ban. Sixty-eight workers were affected by these violations.

After issuing cautions, all sites corrected the problem. The acting director stated the ban’s clear goal. It protects workers without hindering project progress. This Ramadan school holiday and the work ban both prioritize well-being.
