UAE’s AI Vision Shines as Sheikh Tahnoon Joins Time’s 100 Most Influential

The UAE’s AI vision continues to gain global recognition, as Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed earned a place on Time’s 100 most influential people in AI. His leadership reinforces the UAE’s growing role in shaping advanced technology worldwide.

Sheikh Tahnoon chairs G42, a multibillion-dollar AI powerhouse that recently partnered with global tech giant Microsoft. Through this role, he strengthens the UAE’s AI strategy and drives progress in innovation. The UAE’s AI vision focuses on establishing the nation as a leading global hub for artificial intelligence by 2031.

In 2024, Sheikh Tahnoon also appeared on Time’s AI list alongside Faisal Al Bannai, chairperson of EDGE Group. Their recognition reflected the country’s remarkable progress in technology and its ability to shape the global economy. Leaders also highlighted their achievements as vital to the UAE’s economic transformation.

Meanwhile, Omar Al Olama, the UAE’s Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, was featured on Time’s “Next” list in 2024. His selection showcased the growing influence of Emirati leaders in AI and digital transformation. Observers credited his impact on the community and his role in global innovation.

Furthermore, G42’s collaboration with Microsoft included a $1.5-billion investment in 2024, reinforcing international trust in UAE’s technology sector. Together, the two companies launched the Responsible AI Foundation in 2025. This center, the first of its kind in the Middle East, aims to ensure ethical and secure AI development.

During Donald Trump’s visit to the UAE in May, the two countries signed a landmark agreement. The pact approved building the world’s largest artificial intelligence campus outside the United States. This campus in Abu Dhabi will provide 5 gigawatts of power capacity for AI data centers. G42 will lead the project while American companies operate the facilities.

The announcement confirmed the UAE’s ambition to accelerate its digital transformation while strengthening global partnerships. Industry experts see this as a major step toward creating a technology-driven economy. With each milestone, the UAE’s AI vision grows stronger and influences the future of innovation.
