Bahrain Strengthens Global Dialogue at Speakers of Parliament Conference

Global parliamentary cooperation took a significant step forward as Bahrain joined the 6th World Conference of Speakers of Parliament. The international event is set to take place in Geneva from July 29 to 31. Organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the United Nations, the gathering will bring together top legislative figures from around the world.

A delegation from Bahrain’s Parliamentary Division is actively participating in the conference. Jamal Mohammed Fakhro, First Deputy Chairman of the Shura Council, leads the team. Abdulnabi Ahmed Salman, First Deputy Speaker of the Council of Representatives, and Dr. Bassam Ismaeel Albinmohamed also attend. He serves on the Shura Council’s Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence, and National Security.

Throughout the three-day event, leaders will focus on several key issues. Topics include promoting women’s and youth participation in parliaments and using innovation to achieve peace. Participants will also explore ways to reach the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. Additionally, they will examine digital transformation and the protection of vulnerable communities.

The conference theme, “A world in turmoil: Parliamentary cooperation and multilateralism for peace, justice and prosperity for all,” reflects the urgency of global challenges. It also highlights how global parliamentary cooperation is essential in shaping policies that address today’s complex crises.

Importantly, this year’s event marks the sixth edition of the conference. It has been two years in the making and brings together more parliamentary speakers than ever before. Leaders will work to close democratic gaps and enhance international governance through joint efforts.

Bahrain’s active presence at the event reaffirms its commitment to global parliamentary cooperation. The delegation aims to exchange experiences and align with global legislative practices.

To conclude, Bahrain’s participation strengthens its diplomatic voice and supports shared goals for a more just and peaceful world through dialogue, collaboration, innovation, inclusivity, and sustained international parliamentary engagement.
