Sultan Turki Bin Said Road Opens 9km Stretch in South Al Sharqiyah

In a significant step forward, the Sultan Turki bin Said dual carriageway now includes a newly opened 9-kilometer stretch. This extension links Al Kamil Wal Wafi to the Wilayat of Sur in South Al Sharqiyah. The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, in coordination with the Royal Oman Police, opened the road on Thursday. This road segment is part of Phase II – Part II of the Sultan Turki bin Said dual carriageway project. The highway aims to improve travel between wilayats and reduce travel time for commuters and transporters. Authorities believe this project will ease congestion and support local economic growth.

The project reflects the government’s strategy to develop road infrastructure in all governorates. Moreover, the Sultan Turki bin Said dual carriageway supports national plans to boost internal connectivity. Officials have prioritized quality and safety throughout the construction process.

By opening this new section, the ministry has responded to growing transport needs in the region. Local residents, businesses, and logistic operators will now enjoy smoother and faster road access. As Oman continues to modernize its road networks, such projects offer real benefits to communities and industries. According to the ministry, this road features modern engineering standards and robust safety measures. In addition, it includes several service routes and utility crossings. These features ensure reliable transport of goods and people between towns and villages.

Furthermore, the ministry stressed the importance of collaboration with the Royal Oman Police. Their joint efforts ensured safe traffic management during the launch phase. This cooperation will continue as road usage increases.

As Oman develops its strategic road network, the Sultan Turki bin Said dual carriageway plays a vital role. It connects key wilayats and boosts both tourism and trade in the eastern region. Future phases will extend the road even further, bringing long-term gains. With each new milestone, the Sultan Turki bin Said dual carriageway moves closer to completing its mission of connecting Oman’s regions efficiently and safely.
